photo adventures are never boring with allie. when we are together we become an incredible creative team and i'm so grateful for her friendship. she's a fantastic model as well and we never leave our adventures anything less than inspired and in "creative comas". last weekend, after not seeing each other for quite some time, allie came up to indiana for the day and she had on the most adorable Wes Anderson inspired pink dress she had recently thrifted, so naturally we had to go shoot! this spot in particular is one of my favorites. one of the things i love about indiana so much is having everything so close to me, including beautiful country back roads. i don't know if it's the nostalgia of my childhood and growing up in a fairly rural area, but open fields always spark an inspiration within me. i try to appreciate the beauty i have locally available to me as much as possible and this spot is maybe a five minute drive out of town, but you'd never know it! it's got a grated bridge, an unruly, abandoned looking traintrack, and a beautifully open field that gives me vibes from The Lovely Bones every time i'm there. (one of the most inspiring movies to me in terms of cinematography!) all photos of me posted have been taken by Allie Overholt (www.flickr.com/photos/asdfjklallie. i'm always grateful when someone is willing to take some shots of me as well. i've grown tremendously as a person the past year and a half in such positive ways, and i love when i have my confidence captured on camera to remind me of how much i've grown. it's hard sometimes to not talk about how much better i feel since losing weight, and how greatly it has shaped me as a person now. liking yourself for once is one of the most exhilarating feelings. there is nothing more freeing than being able to dress and be person you have always wanted to be. i can't explain how exciting it feels to actually have a website where people can now collectively see my work and the photo services i offer. i just want people to have portraits of themselves they would be proud to look at when they are older. i always think about how much it scares me that one day we may not have all the photos we currently have floating on the internet. it's so important to print your pictures and have them to keep as your memories forever! i have been making picture albums and it's so therapeutic. i just have having a print of my work in my hands. i cannot wait for more summer fun and documentation. wednesday, my husband and i leave for southern california to visit his brother grandmother, and old friends. we are sneaking in a couple road trips too. more posts about our western travels soon to come! hope everyone enjoyed reading!
